Windsurfing: Poole - Hamworthy Wind Direction: E Wind Stength: F5-6 Surf / Sea State: 2' Air Temperature: OK Sea Temperature: OK Weather: Sun and Cloud Max Speed: 34mph (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 27 miles (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
First morning on our week in Poole. And it is windy. The kids are happy
enough watching a few films and I've got a couple of hours spare. I've
never sailed from Hamworthy before and it looks totally flat and fast.
The locals said it was 7 to 7-5, so I rig 6-5. I sail straight over to
Brownsea island and beach next to a flowering rhodedendron. Nice but
overpowered totally.
SO I go back and go straight down to 5-2. No messing. Back out and I have a
good play around. The local sport seems to be go back and forth as fast as
you can.
The only run in I had was falling in on one gybe and waterstarting away I
failed to see a sailor come very close downwind. She was scared as hec when
I up and sailed away. I think she'd not seen me either! I guess round here
anything less than 10 yrds away is a near miss. At Brog it is 1' for sure!
